Rebecca Asbury *
Rebecca “Becky” Asbury, 78, of Marion, passed away at 12:55 am on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at Marion Health. She was born in Marion, Indiana, on Monday, January 7, 1946, to Lewis and Martha (Trosper) Shockey. On August 28, 1969, she married David Asbury, and he survives.
Becky graduated from Marion High School in 1963 and graduated from Marion Business College with an associate’s degree in business. She had worked at Carey Services.
Becky was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, who cherished seeing her family grow over the years. She especially loved cooking for and taking care of her family. Becky will be remembered as a selfless, sweet, loving, and loyal woman to the people in her life, and she will be missed dearly.
In addition to her loving husband of 54 years, David Asbury of Marion, Becky is survived by her son, Mark (Tara) Asbury of Gas City; grandsons, Peyton Asbury and Lucas Asbury; brothers-in-law, Charles Asbury and Jeff Asbury; special friend whom Becky loved like a son, Jeremy (Amanda) Messersmith; plus several nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lewis Shockey; mother, Martha Shockey; son, Shayne Asbury; and sister, Martha Earle.
The family will receive visitors from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, August 9, 2024, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St, Gas City, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Becky’s life will begin at 7:00 pm with Pastor Steve Johnson officiating.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Emergency Room and Critical Care staff at Marion Health, as well as Dr. Patel, for the care and compassion that was provided to Becky in her final moments.
