WOMAN KILLED AT ORPHANAGE

MRS. MARGARET MIDDOUR, 81, a guest at the home for aged at the Quincy Home and Orphanage, Quincy, Pa., near Waynesboro, was killed instantly on Sunday morning in a peculiar car accident at the home.  At about 9 o’clock Sunday morning a minister was assisting elderly women of the home into an automobile, preparetory in taking them to the church at Quincy. Three of the women were already in the rear seat of the car, Mrs. Middour, according to reports, moved over in the front seat as the minister was about to assist a fifth woman to get in the car.  Mrs. Middour, according in reports in some way accidentally placed her hand on the automobile gear shift and at the same time placed her foot on the accelerator. The car started to roll on it’s own accord, going over a high embankment and crashing into a spring house. The car traveled a distance of about twenty feet. The car was badly damaged. The fifth woman had not gotten into the car.  The three women in the back seat were all injured. Mrs. Jennie Ankency is in a serious condition in the Waynesboro Hospital. The others injured are, Mrs. Elva Bostier and Mrs. Caroline Scheur, both hospital patients.  Mrs. Middour was born at Quincy, a daughter of Isaac David and Amanda (Spielman) . After her marriage she resided in Almond, for 15 years, she returned to Quincy in and was employed by the Quincy Orphanage as a house mother to older girls, after which she was employed as a nurse to aged guest for 17 years. She entered the home herself as a guest in .  The deceased was a member of the E.U.B. Church at Quincy. She is survived by a sister of Waynesboro and a brother at Waynrsboro Route 4. Services will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 3 o’clock at the Quincy Church with the Rev. Mr. and the Rev. A. C. Wertsch officiating. Burial will be in Cemetery. Friends call at the Grove funeral home in Waynesboro on Tuesday evening from 7 until 9 o’clock and at the church from 2 p.m. until time of the service.
