Mrs. Gladys M. Monn
Mrs. Gladys M Monn, 83 of 536 Park Street, Mont Alto, died at 11:20 a.m. Sunday, April 12, 1992 in Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown. She had been in failing health for the past year and critically ill for the past month. Born Jan 5, 1909 in Mont Alto, she was the daughter of the late Daniel S. and Emma (Miner) Bittinger. She was a lifelong resident of thepresent address. Mrs. Monn graduated from Quincy High School with the Class of 1926. She and her husband, David S. Monn, were married Aug 16, 1930. Mrs. Monn was employed at Penn State, Mont Alto as a cook in the food and housing department. She retired in 1975. For several years she worked as a cook in Camp Penn on Old Forge Road. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Mont Alto and its Adult Sunday School class. She also sang in the church’s choir and was a member of its United Methodist Women. She also was a member of North Chapter No 739, AARP, Waynesboro, and the National AARP, and vice president of the Mont Alto Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary. In additionto her husband, she is survived by two sons, David R. Monn of Mont Alto and Dwight L. Monn of New Oxford; four granddaughters; two sisters, Helen Gehr of Meadville and A. Jean Baker of Mont Alto and one brother Daniel Edgar Bittinger of Mont Alto. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Wesley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bruce R. Woolever officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Mont Alto.
