Brenda Joyce Hensley
JONESBOROUGH – Brenda Joyce Hensley, 51, of Telford, died Wednesday at her home after a 2 1/2 year battle with cancer.
Mrs. Hensley was former director of Foster Grandparents Program in Tennessee, working in Washington, Unicoi, Grainger, Cocke, Sullivan, Johnson, and Greene counties.
She was a native of Hazard, Ky., a daughter of the late Hannibal and Katherine Perkins Shockey.
She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband: Dallas Paul Hensley; two sons: Todd Hensley and Cade Hensley; a daughter-in-law: Dena Hensley; two grandchildren: Caitlin Joyce Hensley and Jessie Todd Hensley, whom the family said were Mrs. Hensley’s pride and joy; two sisters: Sharon Sanders and Jill Lizotte, both of Indianapolis, Ind.; two brothers: Mike Shockey of Indianapolis and Darrell Shockey of London, Ky.; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles; her mother-in-law and father-in-law: Leila and Murphy Hensley; and several special friends.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 Friday evening at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home in Jonesborough.
The funeral service will be held at 10 o’clock Saturday morning in the funeral home chapel with interment in Fairview Cemetery. Larry Ray Hafley, minister, will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Mike Shockey, Darrell Shockey, Randy Perkins, Sam Kyker, Beebe Hensley, Kevin Green, Allen Curry, and Louis Whitehead.
