Mr. John W. Shockey
Died of His Injuries.
ST. LOUIS, Mo., Oct. 2. — Mr. Shockey, the assistant chief, of the fire department, who was caught under the falling walls of Schaltz’s picture frame factory when it burned last Sunday, died to-day of injuries received on that occasion. Mr. Shockey was a nephew of Clay Sexton, chief of the department, and this death, coupled with the earnest appeals of his family has determined Mr. Sexton to retire from the department, and he will no doubt tender his resignation in a few days.
