Albert Brown *

Albert Gene Brown, 92, of Ravenswood, passed away December 12, at the Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston. He was born June 12, in Parkersburg, a son of the late Albert R. and Mary Battin Brown.
He is a graduate from Parkersburg High School, and went to serve his country honorably in the United States Army. He retired as a pipefitter after many years of service with Century Aluminum in Ravenswood. He attended Calvary Baptist Church in Parkersburg. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time with his family, however, his greatest joy was singing gospel music and setting up his audio system for many senior centers and church’s.
Albert is survived by his three children, Alan Brown (Luann) of Tuppers Plains, OH, Phil Brown (Pam) of Cottageville, WV, and Robin Shockey of Ravenswood, WV; a sister, Kay “Cookie” Horton, sister-in-, Lucy Brown, grandchildren, Julie Stobaugh (Don), Laura (Rick), Joe Brown (Elyse), Elizabeth Dauch (Jonathon), Leslie Arnold (), Danielle Brown, Derek Brown, Corrina (Sean), Robert Shockey (Jessica), Rachale (Nick), and Eric Shockey (Megan); twenty-six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Murrell J. Brown; a daughter, Sandy ; two brothers, Don Brown and Jack Brown; two sisters, Irene Harper and Mary Ann Richmond; and a grandson, David Shockey.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at Tatman Funeral Home, south Parkersburg, with Pastor Dustin officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen South Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home.
