Anna D McKenzie *

Anna Dolores was born in Frostburg, MD on August 16, 1931. She was the daughter of the late Patrick Robert and Anna Gertrude McKenzie. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an older sister, Olive , her niece Lisa Johnson and a cousin Helen Naughton.

She is survived by her daughter, Lois McKenzie of Sarasota, FL and two grandchildren, Jesse Wineland of Easton, MD and Haily Wineland of Chicago, IL, and her younger sister, Pat of LaVale, MD.

She resided at Ormand Street in Frostburg for most of her life. She worked at Kelly Springfield in Cumberland, MD from until it closed in 1986. She was an avid union member there for 36 years and a firm believer in their good and fair work. She retired at the age of 55 and traveled with her daughter and grandchildren to almost every state in the country including for her 75th birthday. She loved travel and adventure even parasailing over Hawaii’s Diamond Head on her 75th birthday. She and her daughter traveled throughout 9 countries in Europe in 2005. She enjoyed so much her early retirement and taking her grandchildren to Ocean City that they loved. She was devoted to her grandchildren, and also enjoyed some painting, sketching, puzzles, and word searches.

She was a lifelong member of St. Michael’s Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Frostburg, and she was a 1945 graduate of their school. She also was a graduate of Beall High School’s Class of .

Leaving us in the springtime of celebrating life, she passed peacefully into her eternal life on Monday, 6, at the age of 92 surrounded by family and friends. A special thank you to Goodwill Nursing Home in Grantville for the excellent care she received.

Friends and family will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg, MD on Thursday, May 9th from 2:00 to 4:00pm.

A mass celebrating her life will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 44 East Main Street, Frostburg, MD Friday, May 10, 2024 at 11:00am with Father Scott officiating.

Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park, 70 Green St., Frostburg, MD next to her niece, Lisa Johnson and sister, Olive Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 44 East Main St., Frostburg, MD.

She will be missed and thought of every by her loving family, and for her great sense of humor, caring and adventure to be continued in heaven.
