Ashton B Lear *

Ashton Brooke Lear of Shepherdstown, West Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2017.

Born November 18, 1998 Ashton was a homeschooled high school senior, a talented artist, writer, photographer, and actress. She adored literature- an avid reader, Ashton read several hundred books each year. In 2016 Ashton was named the winner for WV and National Finalist in the Doodle for Google educational scholarship contest, donating the books and materials that she won to the Shepherdstown Public Library.

Compassionate and kind, Ashton was there for others. She sponsored a child through Compassion International over the past 5 years, traveled to Haiti to assist with earthquake relief and to New Jersey, in 2013, to help those devastated by Hurricane Sandy.

Ashton was a beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin, and friend who will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her parents Mr. John Gary Lear Jr. and Kirstin Lynn Marshall Lear, younger sister Emerson Grace Lear, younger brother Judah William Lear, Grandparents Dr. David Lynn Marshall and Karen Sue Harr Marshall; Grandparents, John Gary Lear, Sr. and Pamela MacIntyre Lear and Great Grandmother, Lillian Foss Marshall and Great Grandmother, Clara Mae Lear.

There are many things for which she will be remembered but what we will never forget is her love for her parents, sister and brother, family, and friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Saint Peters Lutheran Church, Shepherdstown, WV. Memorial donations may be made in Ashton’s name to Compassion International, through their website www.compassion.com
