Barbara E. Shockey *
Barbara E. Shockey, 88, of Washington, WV passed away on December 28, 2020 at the West Virginia Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center with her sons at her side. She was born on November 1, 1932 in Arnoldsburg, WV, daughter of the late Donald W. and Eula G. Altizer.
Barbara graduated from Calhoun County High School and she attended the St. Joseph’s School of Nursing where she earned her RN and continued her nursing career until her retirement at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Barbara was passionate about her faith, her family and her friends and neighbors. She enjoyed search-a-words and watching Wheel of Fortune. She was a longtime former member of Beechwood Presbyterian Church in Parkersburg.
Barbara is survived by sons, Terry (Carol) Burner of Marietta and Mark (Barbara) Burner of Parkersburg; three grandchildren, Terry Jr. (Heather) Burner, Lorie A. (Clayton) Blackwell and Sarah M. Burner; eight great-grandchildren, Abby Natalie, Blake, Evie, Millie, Luke, Azalea and Kaine; two nephews, Donald Altizer and Jeffrey Altizer; beloved sister-in-law and friend, Ellen Altizer; and special friend, Sharon Murphy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Altizer; her aunt, Beulah Altizer; her twin brother, Henry A. Altizer; and her late husband, Paul E. Shockey.
Per Barbara’s wishes, no funeral service will be held at this time. A private service will be held at a later date. Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St. Parkersburg is honored to served the Shockey family.
