Billy Thompson *

Billy Ray , 77, passed away unexpectedly at home on April 22, .

He was born February 27, , in Burley, ID. to Ralph and Juanita (Baker) Thompson.

Billy attended school in both Minidoka and Cassia County. He studied at the College of Southern and Idaho State University. Billy was very proud of his time in the Army, serving our country.

Billy married Judy Schrock in . This union brought a stepson, Troy and together they had a son, Lance. Then later divorced. In 1981, Billy married the love of his life, Debbie. With this union he gained a daughter, Amie, and another son, Michael.

After 41 years of unwavering dedication as the Manager of Minidoka Irrigation District, throughout which he received numerous awards and recognitions, he retired in .

Billy enjoyed traveling, going on cruises, golfing, dutch-oven cooking, and gardening. He was an avid outdoorsman who thrived while camping, 4×4 riding, boating, fishing and hunting. His number one joy in life, however, was spending time with his grandchildren.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers, Carl, Bob and Jim. He is survived by his wife, Debbie, of 43 years, his sister, Doris (Brad), his children: Troy Anderson (Trena), Lance Thompson (Misty), Amie Hollis (Kevin), Michael Thompson (Jacob), and his grandchildren: Kenya Anderson, Challen Anderson, Thompson (Madison), Brett Thompson (Janae), Zak Pool (Bree), Alex Heuston (Stetson), Shay Pilgram (Dillon), (Tuffy) Hollis, and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2024 at Morrison Funeral Home. Viewing for family and friends will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, April 28, 2024 and for one hour prior to the services at the Funeral Home. Services will conclude with burial in Gem Memorial Gardens under the direction of Morrison Payne Funeral Home.
