Bryan Thomas Shockey
Byran Thomas Shockey, age 53 years, a resident of the Cravensdale Community, Elkins, WV, departed this life Saturday, April 4, 2020 at Elkins, WV. He was in his usual health, however death was caused from injuries sustained from an accident.
He was born Thursday, May 12, 1966 at Elkins, WV, a son of the late Thomas Howard Shockey and Barbara Ruth White Shockey, who survives at Elkins. On June 2, 1984 at Elkins, WV, he was married to the former Katharine Lynn Shreve, who survives. They had celebrated thirty-five years of marriage.
Also surviving are two daughters, Amanda Elizabeth Thorn Taylor and husband Rodney L., and Sierra Brook Thorne Shockey and husband Matthew M. Metz, all of Elkins; and granddaughter, Nevaeh Aviana Elizabeth Taylor of Elkins.
Preceding him in death are infant sisters, Valerie and Tonya Shockey; and his Father and Mother-in-laws, Ronald Thorne Shreve and Lona Elizabeth Shreve.
He was a graduate of Elkins High School with the Class of 1984. He was an employee of the City of Elkins, attended the Elkins Church of the Nazarene. He loved the outdoors, was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to bear hunt. He loved his pets and his hunting dogs. He enjoyed softball, played for the Church League and Men's League, coached Little League for several years, coached girls softball for several years, and was an umpire for the High School Softball for sixteen years. He loved spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter, Nevaeh “Nae”.
A private family and graveside service will be held at the Maplewood Cemetery. The Reverend Terry A. Burgess will officate and interment will follow.
