Charles E Chatterton *
Charles Ellis Chatterton, age 80, of Berryville, Arkansas, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2022. He was born January 10, 1942, in Berryville, son of the late George & Agnes (Shockey) Chatterton.
Charles attended Green Forest Schools and after graduation he joined the U.S. Air Force where he served for over 22 years. On November 1, 1962, he married Misako Miyazaki at the U.S. Consulate’s Office in Fukuoka, Japan, on the island of Kyushu.
After retiring from the Air Force, he bought a big rig tractor & drove for local trucking companies. He loved criss-crossing the USA & seeing places he might not have otherwise. He & wife, Misako enjoyed traveling & experiencing new sites wherever they were stationed & also after returning home to Arkansas. As a youth Charles liked to fish & hike all over the hills and forests of home. He played guitar & sang with little sister, Ramona, in the grape stand on the Mile Corner in Green Forest, where they sold grapes grown by their parents to passers-by.
Charles is survived by his 2 children, George Ellis Chatterton II and Susan Angela Chatterton, 3 sisters, Earlene Allen of Broken Arrow, OK, Roberta Miller of Green Forest & Ramona Wilson of Berryville, 3 grandchildren, Nathan Fitchue of Florida, Aaron Fitchue, U.S. Army, stationed in Kansas, Nicole Fitchue of Harrison, 4 great grandchildren, 6 nieces and 2 nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Elizabeth Burrow of Sallisaw, OK & wife Misako.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Smith Family Funeral Home in Green Forest.
