Colleen I. Shockey *
QUINCY, Pa. – Colleen I. Helman Shockey, 76, of Quincy United Methodist Home and formerly of 13419 Blue Ridge Ave., Blue Ridge Summit, Pa., died Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at the nursing home.
Born Oct. 5, 1928, in Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Archie F. and Nettie Kathryn Harty Helman.
She was a 1947 graduate of Waynesboro High School.
She retired in 1979 from Fairfield Shoe Factory.
She was a member of Waynesboro Church of the Brethren.
She is survived by her husband, Jacob F. “Jim” Shockey, whom she married Sept. 3, 1949; three daughters, Rebecca J. Bowman of Blue Ridge Summit, twins, Jo Ellen Crider of Cascade and Sue Ellen Lee of Rouzerville, Pa., three sons, Daniel F. Shockey, Franklin Shockey and Kenneth N. Shockey, all of Blue Ridge Summit; two sisters, Delores Brewer of Waynesboro and Justina Southerly of Chambersburg, Pa.; foster sister, Lois Byers of Fort Loudon, Pa.; 14 grandchildren, including Corey Murdorf of Blue Ridge Summit, whom she raised; five step grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kathryn Shockey; an infant son, Donald Shockey; an infant sister, Betty Helman; and one brother, Lemar Helman.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home in Waynesboro. The Rev. Eugene L. Cline will officiate. Burial will be in Bethel Church Cemetery in Cascade.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
