DAVID EUGENE CUMMONS, 82, of Charleston went to be with the Lord, his parents, and siblings on October 5, 2024 after suffering from Alzheimer’s for the past 7 years.
He was born May 14, 1942 in Parkersburg, WV. A son of the late, Howard and Alma Cummons. Also preceding him in death are his brother, Joseph Cummons and sister, Carolyn Gilmore.
David proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a radioman in a submarine. He was a salesperson for multiple companies throughout his career. He had a love for fitness andthroughout his life he ran in marathons, triathlons, and many road races. Notably, he achieved animpressive milestone of 22 million meters for indoor rowing. In his retirement he worked at the YMCA and Convention Center.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Kathy Esposito Cummons; sons Neil Cummons, Matt Cummons (Megan), and Max Cummons (Alexa Dolce); daughters Terri Lyn Cummons, Trudi Shockey, Micki Whiteman (Matt); grandchildren, Geneva Bautch, Jacob Shockey, Katie Shockey, Sophia Cummons, and Alexander Cummons; great-grandchildren Grace Bautch, Isaac Shockey, Gideon Davis as well as a host of other family and friends.
Cremation has been observed and there will be no public service per his wishes.
