Dennis H Devilbiss
Dennis Hastings Divelbiss, 71, of Hagerstown, Md., died peacefully Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at Reeders Memorial Home in Boonsboro, Md.
Born Sept. 2, 1941, he was the eldest son of Perce R. Divelbiss and Camilla (Tillie) Hastings Divelbiss, deceased.
Before his retirement, he was employed for 35 years at Charles Town Race Track.
He was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of North Hagerstown High School in 1959. He also was a member of BPOE Elks Lodge 378 of Hagerstown. He served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1962.
Surviving are his loving wife, Carol S. (O’Toole) Divelbiss, whom he married Feb. 11, 1967; daughter, Diana K. Gray and husband, Neal, and son, Evan; daughter, Sally A. Rogers and husband, Steve, and son, Lukas, sister, Cheryl Lafferman and husband, Alan, of Frederick, Md.; brothers, J. Gary Divelbiss and wife, Jenny, of Hagerstown, and James R. Divelbiss and wife, Belinda, of Fredericksburg, Va.; seven nieces, three nephews, and two cousins.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandsons, taking trips to the beach, and tending to his roses.
Services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, with the Rev. Bill Warehime officiating.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, Feb. 4, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Interment will be at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
