Dennis L. Shockey *
Delphi – Dennis L. “Denny” Shockey, 73, of Delphi, passed away Saturday-Dec. 12, 2020 at 3:16pm at Rose Walk Village in Laf, after a 3 month decline in his health. He was born July 18, 1947 in Lafayette, to his late father Lyle Shockey, and his mother Marjorie Mack Shockey who survives, and made her home with him. He married Deborah J. Gangwer at their home near Delphi, on May 25, 2007, and she survives. He attended Delphi High School, and received his GED, while serving in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, for 18 months, in the paratrooper division. He worked for REA Magnet Wire in Lafayette for 38 years, retiring in 2007. He was a Indianapolis Colts football fan, and was an avid supporter of the Delphi Oracle football program, and enjoyed watching his grandson play for the Delphi Middle School. He enjoyed gardening, and keeping his yard and property well manicured, and raising cattle on his property. He dearly loved his family, and the time they spent together. Surviving: wife-Deborah J. Shockey of Delphi; mother-Marjorie Shockey of Delphi; daughters-Marjorie Shockey & Amanda & Ray Trueblood both of Lafayette; an infant grandson he and his wife raised in their home-Jeromiah Shockey of Delphi; stepson-Richard & Naomi Goris of Rossville; step daughter-Lana Crum of Cutler; grandchildren: Xzavier Shockey, Jackson Trueblood, Clayton, Chase, and Colton Crum, Zoey & Trinity Goris. mother in law-Arlene Gangwer of Rossville. Preceded in death by an inf daughter; father in law Bob Gangwer. Services: There will be no funeral service at this time. Memorial contributions may be made to the Delphi Community School Corp.
