Dolores Shockey *

Dolores M. Shockey, 80, of Lake Caroline, died peacefully on October 16, 2010 at Memorial Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family.

She attended Liberty College and graduated from James Madison in 1958. She was a school teacher for over 40 years and taught in Weirton, Fairfax, Roanoke, and Caroline. She enjoyed cmaping, fishing, and warm winters in Naples, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Helena Pelter of Weirton, W. Va; sisters, Mary Lou Koslik and Carol Stanley; and her son, Frederick C. Shockey. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Hurbert Shockey; daughter, Kimberly Simpson and her husband, Craig, of Mechanicsville; son, John Shockey of Lake Caroline; special family member, Bonnie C. LeRoy; grandchildren, Jennifer Leigh and Lindsey Blair Greggs and John Wade (“JW”) Simpson; and great-grandson, Dennis Ray Barker III.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, October 19 at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
