Earl E. Shockey *
Mr. Earl E. Shockey, 98, a resident of Michaux Manor, Fayetteville, PA and formerly of Waynesboro, PA passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2021 in Laurel Lakes Rehabilitation Center, Chambersburg.
Born October 30, 1922 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Elmer C. and Rosie V. (Welsh) Shockey.
He served with the United States Army during World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater.
In his early life, Mr. Shockey worked at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg. He later worked for Landis Machine Company, Waynesboro, until his retirement in 1984.
He was a member of Blue Rock U.B. Church, Waynesboro, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by two sons, Earl “Harry” Shockey of Greencastle and Robert Shockey, Sr. and his wife, Barb of Waynesboro; three grandchildren, Robert Shockey, Jr., Melanie Witek, and Theresa Kahl; several great-grandchildren; three siblings, Orville Shockey of Waynesboro, Glen Shockey of State Line, PA, and Kathleen McNew of Fayetteville; his longtime companion, Violet Kiser; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Clark Shockey, Wilbur Shockey, Tressa Shoemaker, Ray Shockey, Sr., and two infant brothers.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 23, 2021 in Mount Zion Cemetery, Mount Zion Road, Quincy, PA, with Pastor Greg Helman officiating. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the honor guard of Charles Nitterhouse V.F.W. Post #1599, Chambersburg.
