Edith J. Currence *
— CUMBERLAND — Edith Julia (Hillebrecht) Currence, 93, of Cumberland, passed away Monday, May 14, 2012, at the home of her daughter, Mona McKenzie, after a long illness.
Born Feb. 21, 1919, in Wheeling, W.Va., Mrs. Currence was the daughter of the late Fred Hillebrecht and Sophie Rose (Miller) Hillebrecht. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard K. Currence; and an infant son, Richard Keith Currence Jr.; three sisters, Virginia Haller, Evelyn Mona Beaver and Emma Corley; a brother, Fred Hillebrecht; a niece, Brenda S. Beaver-Light; and was the last surviving member of her im-mediate family.
Mrs. Currence was a former employee of Ann’s Custom Drapery Shop. She was a member of Saint Ambrose Catholic Church, Cresaptown; a church dinner group member; a former member of the Women of the Moose; a member of the Western Maryland Railroad Ladies Auxiliary; and a lades social group known as the “Salad Supper Group.”
Mrs. Currence is survived by her daughters, Sandra Kidwell and husband, Donnelly, Fairmont, W.Va. and Mona McKenzie and husband, Oren, Cresaptown; her son, Donald R. Currence and wife, Linda, Cumberland; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; as well as many nephews and nieces.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Ambrose Catholic Church, Cresaptown, on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 10 a.m. with Father Greg Chervenak, O.F.M. Cap., as celebrant.
Interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Greg Kidwell, Ritchie “Rich” Currence, Kenneth Currence, Danny Wakefoose, Scott Price, and Marty Fornwalt. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Fornwalt and Joe Fuller.
