Edna Catherine Shockey

At all times and under all circumstances, we are continually reminded of the certainty of death. In the choicest flower that graces the face of the earth, beauty and loveliness are united, and yet it and dies. In the brightness of the sunlight the brilliancy of God is manifest and yet shadows fall athwart its radiance. In life we are full of hopes, ambition and aspirations and yet the shadow of death falls across our pathway and all is gloom and sorrow until the small voice whispers the hope of immortality into our ears.  This tribute of respect is offered to one who; in the prime of life, has been called upon to surrender to the inevitable foe.  EDNA CATHERINE , wife of Joseph Shockey, was born near Brookville, Ind., on April 25, , and departed this life at her home near Reily, , January 6, , at the age of 27 years, 8 months, and 11 days. She was the daughter of Arthur and Rose , and was the first member of the family of seven children to depart this life. All were able to be near their sister when the final parting came.  She was united in marriage to Joseph Shockey on August 12, . This union was blessed with two children, Harry and Thomas, who with their grief-stricken father and a host of relatives and friends are left to mourn their loss. All that care and skill could do was done to off the death angel but all to no avail.  Wife, mother, friend and neighbor, these are her titles, and when just earned as all know hers to have been, they are dividends of priceless value.  She was christened as a member of Catholic church at an early age, and lived faithful to her belief until the end.  Mrs. Shockey will be sadly missed in her wide circle of intimate friends and neighbors; more so by her husband, children and relatives.  the peace and that passeth all understanding fall on them as rays of light from a heaven of peace.
