George W Ritson *
George W. Ritson, 66, Clarinda, died Sunday night at his home at 601 N. 20th from an apparent heart attack.
He was born July 26, 1911, at Des Moines, the son of Joseph D. and Florence Dunn Ritson. He was married to Marie Shockey who preceded him in death Feb. 20. 1972.
Mr. Ritson was a member of the First Christian Church and a veteran of W.VV.II. He had served as secretary of the Clarinda Chamber of Commerce before his retirement in 1976.
Since that time he has worked part time in the Citizens State Bank.
Survivors include two sons, Dr. George W. Ritson, Jr., of Muscatine and Robert P. Ritson of Red Oak, and one grandson. Sisters include Mrs Eric (Betty) Wilson of Iowa City, Mrs. James (Mary) Matthews of Yuma, Ariz., and Mrs. Josephine Lindquist of Chariton. His mother Mrs. Florence Ritson also lives at Chariton.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at First Christian Church with Rev. John Clark, officiating. Norma Kramer was organist. Honorary bearers were: Edwin Lisle, James P. Montgomery Sr., G.W. Richardson, Dr. John Martin, Charles Graham and Dr. Frederick Sperry. Casketbearers were: Paul Jones, Sanford Turner, Stan Honken. George Segrist, James Anderson and Hugh Loudon.
Burial was in Clarinda Cemetery with Walker-Merrick Funeral home in charge of arrangements.
