Gloria M. Baker *

Gloria M. , 71, of Sioux City passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 1, , at her home after a very courageous and lengthy battle with pancreas and stomach cancer.
Services will be at 10:30 on Monday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel (3220 Park Blvd.) in Sioux City with Rev. Benjamin D. officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday with a prayer service at 5 p.m.
Gloria Mae, the daughter of Raymond and Eleanor (Garret) , was born Aug. 21, , in Rockford, Ill. Gloria’s family made their home in Rockford until she was in her early teens. Her family moved to Sioux City while in junior high, where she met her lifelong sweetheart Roy Lee Baker.
Gloria and Roy were united in marriage on Oct. 28, 1968, in Rockport, Mo., and this union was blessed with three children. Gloria worked at Interbake for a few years until she began a 26-year career working alongside her husband co-managing rental properties. Gloria retired in October of .
Gloria enjoyed music, dancing, playing penny slots at the casino, planting flowers, and feeding squirrels on her back deck. Above all, she cherished spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Roy Sr.; three children, Roy Baker Jr. (Kimberly), Bryan Baker (Kim), and Tammy Farley (Scott); 11 grandchildren, Roy Baker III, Jake Faber, London Faber, Kaitlyn Newman, Nicole Hirschman (Paul), Haylie Newman, Kynlee Baker, Dylan Corbin, Ashley Reeves (Nyk), Alyssa Baker, and Donald Farley; six great grandchildren, Roree Miner, Navy Rae Faber, Daizzy Reeves, Nadalynn Reeves, Shynnah Farley, and AJ Farley; one sister, Clara Eye; one sister-in-, Shockey; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and four brothers, Gene Shockey, Dave Shockey (Sharon), Butch Shockey, and one in infancy.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations be directed to St. Croix Hospice, 5710 Sunnybrook Drive, Sioux City, IA 51106.
Honorary pallbearers for Gloria’s service will be Chad Sorgdrager, Keith Sorgdrager, Scott Farley, Roy Baker III, Jake Faber, Nykalis Reeves, London Faber, Kynlee Baker, Ashley Reeves, Alyssa Baker, and Daizzy Reeves.
