Jacob M. Daugherty Jr. *
Jacob Merle Daugherty Jr., 65, of Truxall, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at his home after a courageous battle with a lingering illness.
He was born Aug. 29, 1946, in Apollo, the son of the late Jacob Sr. and Nadine Coppick Daugherty.
Before his retirement in 2001, he was employed by the Homer City Generating Station. Jacob was a Navy veteran having served during Vietnam. He was a longtime member, deacon and trustee of Shiloh Community Baptist Church in Apollo.
He is survived by his loving wife, Juanita Caviness Daugherty; three daughters, Misty Dawn Cramer, of Apollo, Yvette Caviness-Kelley and her husband, Boston, of Vandergrift, and Andrea Caviness Freeman and her husband, Aqui, of North Vandergrift; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two sisters, Stella Inez Libengood, of McIntyre, and Jane Singletary and her husband, Jody, of South Carolina.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Rodney P. Daugherty. Jacob will be sadly missed by a host of family and friends.
Rest in peace dear one. The family will receive friends from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday in Second Baptist Church, Route 66, Gilpin Township, Leechburg, PA 15656. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the church with the Rev. Keith Brown officiating.
