DELPHI – James Dehart Sr., 66, died on March 28, , at St. Hospice in Indianapolis. James was born to the late Howard W. Rock, Sr. and Pearl (Kerfoot) Rock in Lafayette on Aug. 12, 1948. He married Theresa Rockhill on Dec. 23, 1967, in Delphi, and she survives.

Visitation will be from 11 AM until the 1 PM funeral service on Wednesday at the Funeral Home, Delphi, with Military Rites by the Carroll County Honor Guard

James was born to the late Howard W. Rock Sr. and Pearl (Kerfoot) Rock in Lafayette on Aug. 12, 1948.

He attended Delphi Schools and served as a Sgt E5 in the US Army from June -March . He served 1 tour in Vietnam and returned to enlist in the National Guard.

He married Theresa Rockhill on Dec. 23, 1967 in Delphi and she survives.

He retired after 15 years employment with Lox Equipment as a heavy equipment operator.Mr. Rock was a member of the Delphi Wesleyan Church and the Delphi VFW Post #75.James was a collector and builder of HO scale trains. He was a backyard mechanic and was a small engine and John Deere enthusiast.

Along with his wife, Theresa Rock, he is survived by his children: James D. Rock Jr. (Lori) of Noblesville, Joyce Rock of Lafayette, and Joe Rock (Cheryl) of Delphi; brothers Robert Rock of , Howard Rock Jr., of Rossville, Donald Rock of Lafayette; sisters: Shirley Ingle of Lafayette, Beulah Rock of Delphi, Martha of Lafayette; half-brother, Cecil Rock of Delphi; half-sisters: Rosemary Lovvorn, Rosalie McTique and Ruth Ann Rock all of Delphi; grandchildren: Robert and Emily Hixson and Destiny Paige Rock.

James was preceded by a son, Jeff Rock; step-mother, Mary Rock; step-father, Terry Young; 2 brothers: Herb & Wilbur Rock and sister, Ethyl Worth.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. funeral service at Davidson Funeral Home, Delphi on Wed., April 1, 2015 with Pastor Dan Fisher officiating. Military Rites by the Carroll County Honor Guard. Memorial contributions be made in his memory to the Wounded Warriors Fund.
