Joan M Miller *
Joan M. (Owens) Miller, of Mansfield, took the hand of Jesus on Thursday, April 8, 2021, passing into God’s Kingdom and Eternal Life in the first week of this Easter season. Joan was the daughter of the late Leon and Dolores (Wagner) Owens. Joan was a devout Catholic, Penn State graduate, former teacher, Licensed Practical Nurse, and incredible homemaker for her family. For her whole life, Joan actively celebrated her faith in Christ.
For the past 50 years at Holy Child Church in Mansfield, Joan was involved in the religious education of children, RCIA with adults, various liturgical ministries, health care ministry, the Catholic charismatic renewal, and pro-life advocacy. Prior to marriage Joan was a member of the Sisters of The Holy Child Jesus. Joan humbly walked with God, showing interest in whomever she was with and seeing Christ in everyone. Patience, wisdom, kindness, and agape love were her hallmarks.
Left to cherish Joan’s memory are her children, Joseph (Betsy) Miller, Michael (Suzanne) Miller, Mary (Bruce) Nance, Theresa (Scott) Delmotte and Rebecca (Kyle) Chamberlain; daughter-in-law, Laura Miller-Koury (Philip); 15 grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and siblings, Joan was preceded in death by her beloved husband of nearly 40 years, John “Jack” Miller, and their son, John H. Miller, Jr.
