JoAnn B Lutz *

JoAnn B. , 92 of Mayetta, , died August 19, at Vintage Park, Holton, Kansas.
JoAnn was born on July 26, 1932 at home in the county near Havensville, Kansas, the daughter of Charles and Alpha Rawlings. JoAnn was the youngest of 6 children all of whom have preceded her in death. Her brothers were Lyle, Bill, and Verle (aka Buster) Rawlings and her sisters were Maxine Sanders and Lorena . The parents and siblings all lived in Jackson County most of their adult life with the exception of Lorena who lived in Nemaha County.
On August 6, 1950, JoAnn married Lloyd E. Lutz in Holton, Kansas. Lloyd died Monday, May 15, . JoAnn and Lloyd lived in Topeka, Kansas the first 3 years of their married life and then purchased their farm west of Mayetta in where they raised their children: Beverley N. Lutz of Topeka, Kansas, Edward A. Lutz of Holton, Kansas, Sharon D. Cole (Rick, eternity ) of Denison, Kansas, and Dr. Lori J. Lutz (Tom Burnside) of Falls Church, , all surviving. JoAnn’s grandchildren are Wendy Jacobs of Topeka, Kansas, Rachel Cole of Petersburg, Virginia, Mark Cole (Caitlyn) of Holton, Kansas, Jessica (Nicholas) Bowser of Mayetta, Kansas, Jenna (Eric) Patch of Simpsonville, , Janelle (Jason) Schmidtlein of Basehor, Kansas, and Jillian (Mike) Roberts of Holton, Kansas. JoAnn is also survived by great grandchildren , Dalton, Hazel, Henry, Landon, Hayden, Derek, and Liam.
JoAnn was determined, hardworking, and devoted to her family making many sacrifices for them and teaching them many lessons. Her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved them and farm life fiercely, and liked to travel, talk with friends, eat out, sew, make Christmas candy, bake pies, can fruits and vegetables from her garden, work crossword puzzles, watch game shows on television, and help others. She appreciated the great care she received at Holton’s Vintage Park the past couple of years. JoAnn rejoins Lloyd, the love of her life.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, August 29, 2024 at the Mercer Funeral Home with burial to follow at the Holton Cemetery. The visitation will be one hour prior to the service time.
