John A. Shockey *

John A. , 74, of Troy, passed away at 5:23 p.m. Thursday, April 1, at Upper Valley Medical Center. He was born January 10, in Marion to the late Russell C. and Dorothy L. (Alexander) Shockey. He married Melinda A. “Mindy” (Richards) Shockey August 17, at Fletcher United Methodist Church and she survives. Other survivors include six children, ten grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren, also many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one grandchild, and five siblings. Mr. Shockey was a proud U.S. Navy veteran. John worked as a maintenance mechanic at Quaker Oats, and went on to retire from Con Agra Foods with 15 years of service. John was a proud participant in the Honor Flight Dayton group. He enjoyed playing guitar, reading, watching movies and was a devoted Cleveland Browns Fan. John and Mindy loved to travel and find themselves always on adventures. Family was very important to John, previously being a Parent, and loved spending time with family and spoiling the kids and grandkids. John would do anything for anyone, and he will surely be missed by all who knew him. A visitation to honor his life will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Riverside Cemetery with military honors provided by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad.
