Joyce Shockey *
URBANA – Joyce A. Shockey, 78, of Urbana, Ohio passed away on Friday, May 20, 2022, in her home surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer for the past 20 years.
Joyce was born May 28, 1943, in Urbana, Ohio the daughter of the late Delford and Marinda (Holbrook) Huffman. Joyce was a member of the Eastern Star. Joyce enjoyed gardening, camping, and family cookouts. But most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially, her grandchildren.
Joyce is survived by her husband of 37 years, Don Shockey; children, Gretchen (David) White, Tracey McGill, Bill (Sarah) Lamoureux, Christopher Lamoureux, Brian (Amy) Shockey, Neil (Amy) Shockey; 20 grandchildren; siblings, Harry Huffman, Joy Huffman and Jane (Jim) Garvin as well as several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; special friends Tim (Bonnie) Adkison.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Richard Huffman; son-in-law Randy McGill and grandson Matthew McGill.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday May 25, 2022, in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, Ohio. Eastern Star service provided by Caroline Chapter #39 will begin at 7 p.m.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2022, in the funeral home with Pastor Mike Eckstein & Pastor Zach Dudenhofer officiating. Vernon Funeral Home Live Stream will be available on the Facebook page starting at 9:55 a.m.
Burial will follow in McConkey Cemetery.
