Our dear mother, Kathern “LaRue” Hamilton, sadly passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at her home in Tuttle, Oklahoma at the age of 74. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her. She also had many friends and was a well-loved member of the community in Tuttle.

She was predeceased by her husband, Floyd Hamilton; parents, Walter and Rita (Moran) White; brothers, Joseph Edmund White, Cecil Eual White, Orval Ray White; sister, Janie Sue White and half-sister, Florine VanHouten.

LaRue is survived by her daughter and son-in-love, Melinda and C.L. McGill; daughter, Kimberly Hamilton ; grandson and wife, Dylan and Kenzie McGill; and granddaughter, Jewel McGill. She is also survived by her sisters, Anna Jo White-Isenberg, Rena and husband, Mike Collins, and Debra Shockey and special friend, Dale Vanderburg; brother, Walter White; and numerous nieces and nephews.

LaRue was born in Coleman, Oklahoma on June 3, 1948. On March 3, she married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Floyd Hamilton. They were married for over 37 years before he passed. LaRue was always by his side and was his constant companion, nurse, and friend. Over the years, LaRue was an aide at Paden Public Schools, owned her own home daycare, and worked as a preschool teacher at CDO at Snowhill Baptist Church. She loved “her babies” and collected photos and stories of each one. Many children were rocked to sleep by Ms. LaRue.

LaRue was a member of the Baptist Church and raised her daughters in church. She volunteered many hours teaching GAs, Sunday School classes, and Vacation Bible School. She loved children and loved sharing Bible stories with them.

LaRue was a proud grandmother. In Grandma Rue’s eyes, they could do no wrong. She spent many hours playing games, having tea parties, watching sports, and listening to musical recitals with them. She would gladly share their accomplishments with anyone who asked. When she wasn’t spending time with her grandchildren, she was watching Sooner sports-any Sooner sport.

Pallbearers will be grandson, Dylan Kyle McGill; nephews, Dale White, Derrell Isenberg, and Joey Collins; and friends, Nick Sublett and Josh Tobey.

LaRue will be missed by all who loved her. Memorials be made to the Baptist Home for Girls in Madill, Oklahoma, 13976 Anthony , Madill, OK 73446 or by going to www.obhc.org
