Kathleen V McNew *
Kathleen Virginia (Shockey) McNew, age 95, of Fayetteville, PA, went home to be with the Lord, on Thursday, March 14, 2024.
Born July 29, 1928 in Fairview, Quincy Township, she was the daughter of Elmer and Rosie (Welsh) Shockey.
Kathleen worked as a clerk in the meat department of the A & P Market in Waynesboro in the 1950s and 1960s. She also worked at Steely Meats in Fayetteville for many years.
She was faithful to the Lord and a member of the Fayetteville Church of God. Family was important to Kathleen and she shared many happy memories traveling south and camping with family and friends.
She is survived by a son, Daryl McNew (wife Edie) and a daughter, Melinda Commerer (husband Scott). She is also survived one brother, Glen Shockey, and by three grandchildren: Melany McNew (husband Jon), Dylan Commerer (wife Cassandra) and Kyle McNew, and two great-grandchildren: Emma and Aubrey.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Lloyd McNew in 2016. She was also preceded in death by five brothers, one sister and a great-granddaughter.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, March 18, 2024 in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, 2509 Black Gap Road, Chambersburg, PA with Pastor Bill Smith officiating.
