Laura I. Scannel *
Laura Irene Wayne Shockey Scannel, died at 9:17 AM Monday, Oct. 20, 1997, at Vencor Hospital, Indianapolis; she had been in ill health for ten years. Born at Medaryville on Jan. 13, 1927, she lived in the Lafayette area most of her life.
Her first marriage was at Lafayette to George Shockey, Jr.; he died Aug. 1, 1977. Her second marriage was at Boswell to Dwayne Scannel; he died Dec. 24, 1991. Mrs. Scannel was a homemaker and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary in Attica.
Surviving are three sons, Larry Shockey, Bryan Shockey, both of Lafayette, and Gary Shockey of Friendsville, PA; a daughter, Linda (Mrs. David) Burdette of Oxford; two stepdaughters, Sharon (Mrs. Jim) Bussell and Shamron Scannel, both of Lafayette; a brother, Harry D. Wayne of Monon; and six sisters, Mary Ellen Hunnicutt of Logansport, Leona Wilkerson of Rensselaer, Anna Blackburn of Monon, Franceska Neff of West Lafayette, Rosie Hatten and Gloria Tudder, both of Lafayette. Service Oct. 24, 1997, Hippensteel Chapel, the Rev. Raymond E. Parnell officiating; internment Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
