Laura May Powell
LAURA MAY POWELL, wife of Jerome Powell, South Potomac Street, died this morning of complications after an illness of a few days, aged 73 years. She was born and reared at Mt. Alto, a daughter of Jacob and Susanne Sheaffer Shockey but resided in Hagerstown for 37 years. She was a member of the Church of God in Chambersburg.
Besides her husband, the following survive: daughters, Mrs. Fay McCleary and Mrs. Irene Foreman, Hagerstown; Mrs. Zella Wade, Trego, and Eltie Faust, Hagerstown; step-son, Edward Powell, Funkstown; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and brother, Samuel Shockey, Chambersburg.
Services were held at the A.K. Coffman Funeral Home; burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
