Laura Viti

Laura Viti, nee Happ, of Deerfield formerly of Northbrook, was born December 3, 1963, and passed away January 27, 2025. She was the beloved wife of Jerry “Kip” Viti; loving mother of Sean (Savannah), Kyle, and Kendall; proud grandmother of Millie Mae; devoted daughter of Joseph and the late Audrey Happ nee Oberheide; sister of Larry Happ; fond sister-in-law of Colleen Sands MacKimm and Augusta Happ; aunt of Brandon (Vanessa), Emma, Joseph and Matthew; great aunt of Brody and Alyssa; cherished Godmother of Maryalice Shockey; she is also survived by her aunt Barbara Oberheide; cousins Jeffrey, late Jay, and James Oberheide and many lifelong friends including Tracy Shockey for whom the family is eternally grateful for all the love and support.
Laura graduated from Marillac High School, then Texas Christian University where she was a member of the Tri Delta Sorority and a Phi Kappa Sigma Little Sister. She earned her degree in nursing and her career spanned from 1986 until her passing. She worked at Evanston Hospital, Northwestern Home Health Care, Lake Forest Home Health Care, and finally at Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital in the outpatient oncology department. Laura cared for hundreds of patients with the utmost kindness and professionalism. Her patients loved her as did the wonderful nurses she worked with. When Laura’s cancer returned, her nursing colleagues embraced her with care, love, and compassion. She was eternally grateful for their kindness and support.
Laura was full of life and always fun to be around. She had a way of making everyone feel special, valued, and loved. Spending time with her cousins and their families was always important to her. Her kindness and the time she spent with others brought so much happiness, and the many friendships she built were a true reflection of her amazing spirit. She wasn’t one for drama and always focused on the good. Her smile, warmth, and big heart will be deeply missed by everyone lucky enough to have known her.
More than anything, Laura’s family was her world. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, completely devoted to her family. From the moment she met her husband, she was the love of his life, and her family was always at the center of everything she did. Her love for her family was unwavering and unconditional. She had a way of making life special for her family, whether through cooking delicious meals, providing words of encouragement, or simply being there when she was needed most. She was a source of strength, comfort, and endless support, always putting her family’s happiness before her own. Her care and dedication spoke volumes about the depth of her love, and her presence will be deeply missed but forever felt in the hearts of her husband and children.
Laura leaves behind a legacy filled with love, joy, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She touched the lives of so many, and her presence will be deeply missed.
A visitation will be held Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 5 to 7 pm at N.H. Scott & Hanekamp Funeral Home, 1240 Waukegan Road, Glenview. Funeral Mass Friday, February 7 at 10 am at St. Norbert & Our Lady of the Brook Parish, 1809 Walters Ave., Northbrook.
