Leo L. Crevier

Leo L. , 89, of Seneca, , died Monday, July 17, 2000 at Country View Estates Care Home in Seneca. He had been a resident there since July 27, 1998.

He was born August 18, , at Winifred, Kansas, the son of Edmond and Julia Chaquette Crevier. He attended school at Winifred and later at after the family moved to Marshall County Kansas. His father was a blacksmith and made farm wagons. When he was 16, Leo worked for the Grand Island Railroad as a section hand for a year before he joined his father in the blacksmith shop. Later he worked at Lake Nemaha near Seneca, Kansas, at the CCC Camp where he shod horses.

In Leo and his brother, Vincent, opened Crevier’s Welding Shop in Seneca. In he bought out his brother’s interest. His son, Leo, worked with him and in purchased the shop, and Leo retired.

On June 30, , he married Edna G. Shockey at Axtell, Kansas. She died February 2, . They lived in Seneca for many years and celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1982 and their 60th in .

He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church, St. Joseph’s Society at the church, and the Knights of Columbus # 1769, all at Seneca.

Survivors are his son, Leo E. of Seneca; a daughter, Rose Crevier of Seneca; 6 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

A vigil prayer service will be conducted at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca at 7 P.M. Tuesday. The mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
