Linda M Parsons *
On 24 August 2024, Linda Parsons, 81, of French Creek, WV, went to sleep in her home with her husband by her side and woke up in heaven rejoicing with the angels. Born on 18 November 1942, in Moundsville, WV, she was preceded in death by her grandmother Mary Katherine Farmer, her mother Clara Gorby, and her oldest son, Donnie for whom she faithfully and lovingly cared for the fifteen years they were blessed to have him here in this life. She was also preceded in death by one half-sister and three stepsisters. She is survived by one stepsister, Marg Gower, of Moundsville, WV. On 26 August 1960, she married Donald Parsons, her sweetheart and faithful caregiver, who survives. She is also survived by her daughter Rhonda (Shane) Shockey of French Creek; sons: Doug (Diane) Parsons of Culloden, WV and Wayne (Crystal) Parsons of French Creek; nine grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
Linda was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and had no greater joy than taking care of her family and feeding everyone that came into their home. She was a member of Christian Fellowship Church, and a member of the Gideon Auxiliary where she served in various offices in the Lewis-Upshur Camp, Region 4, and State Level positions.
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 26, 2024, from 3-7:00 PM at the Christian Fellowship Church. The body will again lie-in-state at the church on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM-the funeral hour, with the Rev. J. Edward McDaniels and Pastor David Jessie officiating. Interment will follow in the French Creek Presbyterian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lewis-Upshur Gideons, P.O. Box 505, Buckhannon, WV 26201.
