Lloyd Shockey

LLOYD , 68, Smithsburg R. D. 3, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Waynesboro Hospital at 5 p.m. Monday. He collapsed shortly after finishing some yard work at a Clayton Avenue home. His death was attributed to a heart attack.

Mr. Shockey was born at Ringgold, Feb. 17, , son of the late Welty and Annie Barkdoll Shockey.

All of his active life he and his brother, the late Ralph Shockey, had operated a dairy farm and the Shockey Brothers Orchards at Ringgold. He had retired from farming in and for the past several years had helped local farmers as well as doing lawn maintenance work for several Waynesboro residents.

Mr. Shockey was a member of Welty’s Church of the Brethren and the Sunday School Class of the church.

In addition to his widow, Mrs. Virgie Shockey, he is survived by two sons: J. Richard Shockey and Franklin R. Shockey, both of Smithsburg R. D. 3; a granddaughter, Miss Debra Shockey; a sister, Mrs. John , Reed, Md., and a brother, Earl Shockey, Cascade.

The funeral will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Grove Funeral Home in charge of the Rev. Norman Cain. The interment will be in the Ringgold Cemetery.

Friends call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
