Lynn Johnson *
On Sunday, October 13th, 2024, Lynn Johnson left us 13 days before his 92nd birthday. Lynn was born in Erie, PA on October 26th, 1932 to Gerald and Ruth Johnson. Lynn married his high school sweetheart, Theresa Johnson, on November 8th, 1953. The two shared 71 years, 3 wonderful children, and a lifetime of memories.
Lynn was loved by all who were lucky enough to have met him and was known for his selfless nature, compassionate demeanor, genuine character, and warm smile. One of Lynn’s many hobbies included tending to his immaculate garden and he loved nothing more than to share the fruits of his labor with all of his neighbors in Hatch Hollow. In addition to his vegetable garden, Lynn took great pride in the flowers and manicured shrubbery that surrounded every corner of his home. Strangers were known to have stopped to admire the colorful array of flowers and comment on the beauty he created. A perfect day for Lynn was a day spent outside from sun up to sun down. Lynn enjoyed fishing from his boat on Lake Pleasant or hunting for deer in the fields behind his house, but most of all, he enjoyed relaxing on his porch swing just enjoying the view. In the colder months, Lynn would retreat to his basement workshop, where his woodworking skills were second to none. Whether building a 3-story birdhouse or crafting a new Christmas decoration for his front yard, his creations were beautiful and enjoyed by many throughout the years. Lynn retired from Hammermill after 40 years of working swing shifts to support his family of five. Following retirement, Lynn discovered his love for bowling when he joined a local league and gained numerous friendships along the way. Lynn cared deeply for those in his life, and this was evident by his willingness to help others at a moment’s notice.
To know him was to love him, how lucky we have been. He was truly one of a kind.
In addition to his parents, Lynn was preceded in death by his brothers, Reed (Thelma) Grover (Bonnie), Milton (Betty), and his sister, Verna Shockey (Roy).
Lynn is survived by his wife Theresa Johnson, and his children, Sandy Moore (Harold), Michele McConnell (Patrick), and Michael Johnson. Lynn also leaves behind his four grandchildren, Amanda McCreadie (Matt), Brodie Moore (Heather), Ryan McConnell (Hanna), and Mallory McConnell, as well as five great-grandchildren, Mason, Parker, Olive, Bryson, and Xavier.
As per Lynn’s wishes, private arrangements are under the care of Burton Quinn-Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, West Ridge, 3801 W. 26th St., Erie, PA.
