Margaret E Douglas *
BOARDMAN – Margaret E. Douglas, 93, a past resident of New Middletown, peacefully passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2013, at the Hospice House on Sharrot Road.
Margaret was born in New Middletown on Nov. 10, 1919. She was the daughter of the late O.B. and Allura Heck Metz.
She was the wife of the late C. Floyd Douglas, whom she married on Dec. 16 1939.
Margaret received her education at the Springfield High School. She went on to work for Peoples Bank and the Tigers Table Restaurant. She retired at the age of 75. Margaret was involved in the Mt. Jackson Civic Club. She hosted couples card parties, she had been a member of the Bethel U.P. Church Choir and had taught Sunday school.
She was a caregiver by nature, enjoyed people, loved to socialize, Was famous for her Sweet Rolls and had especially enjoyed traveling to Nova Scotia. Margaret was also a gifted poet. Margaret was loved by all who knew her and were drawn by her kindly nature. She endeared herself to both young and old. Her consistent life and testimony will be an inspiration in the lives of many in the years to come. She bore her infirmities patiently, placing her trust in her Heavenly Father. She will be missed.
Margaret is survived by her four daughters, Kathy Brandt and her husband, Bill of New Middletown, Janet Downing and her husband, Bob of The Woodlands, Texas, Linda Leicht of Struthers, and Donita Gerner and her husband, Robert of Columbiana. She also leaves nine grandchildren, Lisa and Darrell Arms, Lori and Clint Scroggs, Julie and Sam Seargent, Joni and Morgan Douglas, Corrie Leicht Adams and Charlie, Maggie Downing, Doug and Carrie Downing, Jane and Ryan Medema and Kimberlie Gerner. Also, she leaves 17 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Margaret was preceded in death by not only her parents and husband, but also a sister, Betty Crowell; and brothers, Robert and Russell Metz .
Margaret will be laid to rest at Bethel U.P. Cemetery in Enon Valley, Pa.
