Marion J. Oliver *
Marion Joseph Oliver of Mountain Home, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, Feb. 20, 2022, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 84.
He was born Jan. 25, 1938, in Reeds Spring, Missouri, the son of William Clarence and Vica Mae Goodwin Oliver. He married Wilma R. Shockey on July 24, 1963 in Longrun, Missouri.
He was a Mountain Home school bus mechanic/driver for many years. He began working as a locksmith in 1984 to present. He started Marion’s Lock and Key Service and currently owned Oliver’s Locksmith Service. Marion was a U.S. Army veteran. Marion lived in Mountain Home since moving from Gainesville, MO in 1977, except for a few years, when he moved to Mansfield, Missouri.
He was a minister and held revivals and pastored churches in southern Missouri and Northern Arkansas. He loved spending time with his daughters, son-in-laws and his grandchildren. His great-grandchildren brought him many hours of laughter.
Marion is survived by his daughters, Sheila (Bobby) Shelley of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and Rebecca (Chris) Dinwiddie of Conway, Missouri; brother Thomas Oliver; sisters Cora Cron, Janice Hicks, Alma Jennings, Lydia Stapp and Linda Sissney; grandchildren Joshua Shelley, Matthew Shelley, Kelsay Dunbar, Heath Dugger, Sarah Downs, Hannah Dugger, Russell Dinwiddie, Christian Dinwiddie and Carter Dinwiddie; great-grandchildren Braelyn, Natalie, Lane, Violet, Ava, Duke, Harper, Winter and one on the way, Graydon.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Oliver; parents William Clarence Oliver and Vica Mae Goodwin Johnson; brother William Oliver and sisters Edith Campfield and Eunice Romine.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 24, 2022, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service for Marion will be 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 25, 2022, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Ron Mace and Brother Paul Romine officiating.
Burial will be in the Kirby’s Tucker Memorial Cemetery with Joshua Shelley, Matthew Shelley, Kelsay Dunbar, Heath Dugger, Sarah Downs, Hannah Dugger, Hunter Downs, Alex Dunbar and Heather Shelley as pallbearers. Military Honors will be provided by the Alley–White American Legion Post #52 and U.S. Army Honor Guards.
