Martha Morris Knauss
MARTHA MORRIS KNAUSS 78, of Springfield, died Wednesday, April 7, 1993 at 7:40 p.m. in Eaglewood Care Center. She was born March 11, 1915, in Springfield, the daughter of Edgar L. and Dora (Schmidt) Morris. Her father was former publisher of the Springfield Daily News and Sun. Mrs. Knauss graduated in 1936, from Wittenberg University, where she was a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority and the Prince Davis Society. She was a former member of the Fortnightly Music Club and First Lutheran Church. She served as secretary of the Women’s Group of the Springfield Symphony, and on the board of the U. S. O. during World War 11. She was currently a member of the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Robert J. Knauss, in 1990; and her son, Morris J. Knauss, in 1970. Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Littleton & Rue Funeral Home with Pastor Lawrence T. Rugh and Pastor Daniel M Powell officiating. Contributions may be made to the Morris J. Knauss Memorial Fund, care of Wittenberg University.
