Mary E. Rook *

Mrs. Mary Etta “Susie” () , 87, a resident of Quincy Village and formerly of Waynesboro, PA, passed away, Wednesday, December 9, , in the nursing home.
Born June 9, near Waynesboro, PA, she was the daughter of the late J. Russell and Alma LaRue () Toms. She lived most of her life in the Waynesboro area.
Mrs. Rook graduated from the Waynesboro High School with the class of .
She and her husband, the late C. Wilbur Rook, Jr. were married on November 25, 1951 at Faith United Methodist Church, Waynesboro. They lived on Brookdale Drive for many years. Mr. Rook died on March 11, .
In her early life, Mrs. Rook worked at Landis Tool Co., Waynesboro, Co., Chambersburg and Frick Co., Waynesboro. Prior to retiring in 1995, she worked for 29 years at Grove Manufacturing as a Supervisor of Data Processing.
She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Waynesboro, where she was a member of the Married Couples Sunday School Class. She was also a member of South Chapter 2977 AARP, National AARP, Waynesboro Hospital Auxiliary, and B.P.O. Elks Lodge 731 Ladies Auxiliary, Waynesboro.
Mrs. Rook enjoyed traveling – especially on cruises, taking their boat on the river, and caring for her dogs.
She is survived by one sister, Joan M. Shadle of Waynesboro; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, December 14, 2020 in Green Cemetery, 953 S. Potomac St., Waynesboro, with Pastor Mark Shover officiating.
