Maude E. Coleman *
sFAIRBURY – Maude E. Coleman, 96, of Fairbury died at 9:19 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 10, 1994) at Fairbury Hospital, Fairbury. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church, Fairbury, the Rev. Stanley Rapp officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Wing. Visitation will be an hour before the service at the church Tuesday. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury, is in charge of arrangements. She was born Aug. 9, 1898, in Charlotte Township, Livingston County, a daughter of Frank and Mary Gulder Shockey. She married A.E. Pete Coleman June 4, 1921. He died April 6, 1946. Surviving are two daughters, Mildred M. Dennewitz, Normal, and Lorraine Honegger, Forrest; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters. Mrs. Coleman was a member of the United Methodist Church, Fairbury; the United Methodist Women; Fairbury Hospital Auxiliary and the Illinois Retired Teachers Association. She graduated from Illinois State Normal University in 1955. She was a second-grade teacher in Cook and Livingston counties for 30 years, retiring in 1972. Memorials may be made to her church or Southeastern Livingston County Ambulance Service.
