Mr. I.N. Shockey
Grapevine Pioneer is Buried by Odd Fellows – The death angel visited the home of Mrs. I.N. Shockey, Thursday, August 13 at 2 o’clock a.m., taking away her dear husband, Mr. I.N. Shockey. He was buried Friday afternoon at 4 o’clock in Lonesome Dove cemetery, Rev. J.L. Dwight, Baptist minister officiating. Services at the grave were conducted by the Odd Fellows. Mr. Shockey was born in Indiana April 3, 1856, was reared in Illinois, married to Miss Sarah Jane Hilliard September 28, 1882. To this union were born thirteen children, ten of whom survive. Mr. Shockey has lived in Denton and Tarrant Counties since 1885. He was converted about 40 years ago and joined the Baptist church, of which he has been a devoted Christian ever since. Besides his wife he is survived by the following children; Mrs. Mary Lanford, Montague; W.M. Shockey, Justin; Mrs. Lillie Churchman, Argyle; Mrs. Ethel Huffman, and J.L. Shockey, Roanoke; Mrs. Pearl Cunningham and I.L. Shockey, Fort Worth; J.F. Shockey, Stanton; Mrs. Maudie Grizzle, Coppell, and Earl Shockey, Grapevine.
