DRESDEN RD. WOMAN DIES IN HER HOME
MRS. GEORGE HARVEY GEIST, 79, of 2245 Dresden road, died at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at her home following a lingering illness. She was born Katharine Shockey in Waynesboro, Pa , the daughter of Daniel and Catherine Rinehart Shockey. She had resided in Zanesville since 1907. Her husband, George Geist, a prominent shoe merchant here died in 1925. Early in life she attended Juanita College in Huntington, Pa. Mrs. Geist was a member of Central Presbyterian Church, and was past president of the Ladies Congregational Society. She was one of the first board members of the local YMCA and for man years was connected with the John Mclntire Library. She was, also a member of the All-Around Club, the Amateur Gardner Club and was secretary of the Shinnick Educational Fund from 1932 to 1949. Surviving are a daughter, Miss Sarah Geist of the home and several nieces and nephews. The body was removed to the Forest Avenue Chapel of the, Bolin-Bryan Funeral Home where friends may call from 2 to 4:30 and 7 to 9 p. m. Friday, and from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. Services will be held at 2.30 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. The Rev. A. Dale Sowers will officiate with burial in the Greenwood Cemetery.
