Olivette J Levan *
Stockton – Olivette J. Levan, 92 of Stockton died on Sunday, March 19th at the Lena Living Center in Lena, IL. Born on February 28, 1931, in Oak Park, IL, she was the daughter of Oliver and Gertrude (Gocker) Krebs. She was baptized, educated and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran in Forest Park, Illinois. Olivette was a graduate of Proviso High School. She and Edwin Levan were united in marriage on September 10, 1949 in Forest Park, Il. They lived in Villa Park and Roselle, IL until moving to a farm near Stockton, Il in 1969.
Olivette worked at J.C. Penney’s in Freeport for a few years and then at the Production Credit office in Mt. Carroll, IL. Upon retirement Ollie and Ed worked with ELCA Mission Builders and LCMS Labors for Christ building Lutheran churches across the US. She has been a member of St. John’s in Lena since 1988.
Surviving are her children, Steve (Kathie) Levan of Stockton, Beverly (David) Shockey of Burlington, KY; Eileen (Greg) Lawfer of Stockton and Terry (Jane) Levan of Lexington, TX; seven grandchildren, Meghan (Jake) Levan, Drew (Vanessa) Levan, Ana (Adrian) Parke, Erin (Nick) Brannick, Kirsten (Joe) Lovell, Heather (Tim) Larson and Carrie Lawfer. Her legacy also includes 15 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were here parents, her husband, Edwin and her sister, Shirley Moehle.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial Service will take place on Monday, April 3rd at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lena with a visitation beginning at 10am followed by a service at 11am.
