Phyllis R. Bakner
Phyllis R. (Addlesberger) Bakner, 74 of 27 N. Grant Street, Waynesboro, died at 5 A.M. Sunday July 9, 1995, in her home. Death was unexpected and attributed to heart failure. Born May 19, 1921 in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Franklin Howard and Elva May (Shockey) Addlesberger. She was a lifelong resident of the Waynesboro area. She and her husband, Junior A. Bakner, were married May 26, 1944. Mr. Bakner died Oct 7, 1991. The couple moved to the Grant Street residence in 1963. Mrs. Bakner was employed in her early life at the Waynesboro Shoe Factory and later at the Waynesboro Knitting Mill. Prior to retiring in Jul 1990 she was a machine operator at Connie’s Sportswear, Waynesboro for 27 years. She was a member of South Chapter 2977 AARP, Waynesboro and the National AARP. Mrs. Bakner is survived by two daughters, Patricia A. Hoffman and Karen L. Ridge, both of Waynesboro; three grandchildren; three sisters, Lillian Frantz and Hilda Rowe, both of Waynesboro and Louise Hull of Keedysville, Md; and a brother, Franklin Addlesberger of A York. She was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Addlesberger in 1992. Services will be held at 10:30.A. M. Wednesday in Grove Funeral Home, Waynesboro, with Pastor Richard L. Thorp officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, near Quincy. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 P.M. Tuesday in the funeral home.
