Rachel L Miller *

Rachel Lee Shockey Miller, age 68, of Marysville, died Thursday January 18, 2024 at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth.

To know Rachel was to love her. If she had any ill thoughts or reservation of a situation, she would communicate it without holding back. But more than anything, she loved to laugh and always wished her body kept up with her mind in fulfilling all the dreams she desired as the years went on.

She loved playing Bingo, painting ceramics, making miniature skulls and many handicrafts, including plastic canvas, knitting, quilting, needlepoint, crocheting and sewing. She liked listening to John Mellencamp. She also liked going out to eat, especially at buffets and enjoyed playing practical jokes on others. She was known as one who would give a person her last anything and go without if that helped – and MORE if she could. Rachel adored her grand and great-grandchildren.

She was born June 4, 1955 in Delaware, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Richard “Rick” Miller; her father, William Shockey and her brother, George Shockey.

Those left to cherish her memory are her mother, Bulah Henderson Shockey; her daughter, Rhonda (David) Stiffler of Marysville; three grandchildren, Aries (Anthony) Nusbaum, Audrey Stiffler and Alyssa Stiffler; four great-grandchildren, Chevy, Baiylyn, Gemisxn and Raiden; her sisters, Becky Schertzer, Mary (Rodney) Price and Jane (Mark) Reisinger, all of Marysville and Ann (David) Reid of Russellville, Arkansas; her inlaws, Peggy Sue Watkins, Marilyn Carter, Diane (Frank) Rice and Johnny Miller; and other relatives.

The family will receive friends 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, January 25, 2024 at Underwood Funeral Home where a funeral procession will form at 1 p.m. and proceed to Oakdale Cemetery for a 1:30 p.m. graveside service. Pastor Jim Gardner will officiate. A luncheon will follow at the Marysville VFW Post. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.underwoodfuneralhome.com.
