Ray E. Shockey
MEYERSDALE — Ray E. Shockey, 67, of RD 3 Meyersdale, died suddenly Thursday while attending a meeting in Asheville, N.C. Born near Meyersdale, Mr. Shockey was a son of the late Irvin and Annie (Arklie) Shockey. Mr. Shockey was tax collector for Greenville Township. He had taught school for 37 years in Larimer and Greenville townships. He was a charter member and secretary of the Rural Electric Cooperative of Somerset County, a member of the Meyersdale Lions Club, Greenville Lutheran Church, and Somerset County Teachers Association. Surviving are his widow, Nellie (Baer) Shockey; two sons, Donald, RD 3, Meyersdale, and Richard Shockey, of here; a daughter, Mrs. John Ziegler, State College; two brothers, Marling, RD 4, Meyersdale, and Rev. Ralph Shockey, Morristown, N.J., and six grandchildren. The body will be at the Price Funeral Home after 2 p.m. today. Services will be conducted there Monday at 11 a.m. by Rev. Charles Slaub. Burial will be in Greenville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Greenville Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
