Roberta J. Bronson *

Roberta Jean “Bobbie” , 92, of Ottawa, Kansas passed away Friday, May 15, 2020 at Richmond Healthcare & Rehabilitation.

Private graveside services will be held at Princeton Cemetery. Mrs. Bronson will lie in state from 9:00 A.M. to noon Friday, May 22, 2020 at Dengel & Son Mortuary where family and friends my pay their respects staying in compliance with COVID-19 restrictions.

Bobbie was born July 22, at Emporia, Kansas, the daughter of Edward Ernest and Stella May (Dewey) New.

She lived sixty-five years in Princeton, Kansas, seven years in Garnett, Kansas before moving to Ottawa in 1999.

Bobbie graduated from Princeton High School with the class of .

She was united in marriage with James Welch in 1946. They were later divorced. Bobbie then married Charles in . They were later divorced. On October 16, Bobbie was united in marriage with William D. “Bill’ Bronson at Garnett, Kansas.

Bobbie worked for Sears in Ottawa as a salesclerk, and years as bookkeeper/office manager for Franklin County RWD #6.

She served thirteen years as City Clerk for Princeton and was a member of Princeton Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bill Bronson, parents, Edward and Stella New; three sisters, Ada McGregor, Alice Pentecost, and Betty Prue; and brother, Charles New.

Bobbie is survived by her children, Janice M. Coombes and husband James of Ottawa, Alan L. Welch and wife Jennifer of , , and John W. Donart and wife Lisa of Shawnee, Kansas; stepdaughter, Ann Shire of Topeka, Kansas; fourteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
