Violet S. Shockey
VIOLET S. MOUER SHARRAH SHOCKEY, 77, of 5400 Lincoln Way East, Lot 59-B, Fayetteville, died Monday, May 15, in Chambersburg Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Clark C. Shockey. Her first husband, Harvey J. Sharrah, died in 1968. Born March 23, 1923 in Fayetteville, she was the daughter of the late Stuart and Frances McNew Mouer. Mrs. Shockey attended Fayetteville High School. She was a seasonal worker for Knouse Foods in Biglerville for a number of years. She was a member of Blue Rock United Brethren in Christ Church, Waynesboro, the Willing Workers Sunday School Class of the church, and the National AARP. She was a former member of Cold Spring United Brethren in Christ Church, Fayetteville. In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughter Glenda S. Ulrich of Fayetteville; two sons, Donald H. Sharrah of Fayetteville and Jackie L. Sharrah of Waynesboro; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Mickey and Peggy Peterson, both of Fayetteville; two brothers, the Rev. George S. Mouer, Sr. and Thomas L. Mowers, both of Fayetteville; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and first husband, she was predeceased by two sisters, Bernice Mouer and Janet Baker. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 18, at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with the Rev. John W. Shubert and the Rev. Donald L. Bender officiating. Interment will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, near Mont Alto. Friends may call Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
